We are primarily discretionary investment managers, managing funds on behalf of private client's who have greater than £1m / $1m / EUR1m to invest for the long term.
We are "absolute return" managers and our strategy is entirely focussed on preserving wealth and delivering real long-term capital growth, regardless of market direction. We employ a number of different strategies and asset classes across client portfolios to ensure good diversification with low risk and low correlation.
Our starting point with any client is to establish their "risk profile" and objectives/goals for the capital to be invested. Once we have a shared understanding, we would normally steer our client towards one of four primary risk model portfolios which would form the basis for the structure of their portfolio:
The four primary risk models are available in GBP, USD & EUR and are as follows:
* Cautious Risk (no equity exposure)
* Low Risk
* Moderate Risk
* Growth (presently 35% in favour of equities)
Besides conventional asset classes such as equities, bonds and cash, we also use "alternative investments" such as hedge funds (different strategies), commodities and real estate to deliver a truly diversified portfolio.
Our fund selections consist of single manager and multi-manager funds. For research and due diligence purposes, we employ a third-party house to undertake independent analysis to support our own in-house team. We have an "open architecture" policy; we do not presently have our own funds.
Ansbacher won the 2007 Private Asset Managers (PAM) award for Investment Performance: Growth Portfolios which we believe is great industry recognition given the strong competition, particularly from houses much larger than ourselves.
Our management fee is truly inclusive and covers all trading costs, safe custody fees and ongoing management. Our management fee is 1.50% per annum, based on total assets under management.
Establishing a portfolio:
In order to access our services we normally like to meet our clients to discuss the operation of the portfolio and ensure we meet expectations. However, we may need to discuss arrangements on a case by case basis. We aim to be as flexible as possible.
Like any other bank, we have an absolute obligation to understand and identify our new clients, the rationale for the portfolio and the sources of their funds, which can sometimes take time. We will ask new client's to provide key documentation about themselves such as identification and evidence of their prime residential address.
Each client will be asked to complete one application form and one client profile. We will also supply terms and conditions. Once the process has been completed and approved, we can then issue account details for receiving funds for investment. The client will subsequently receive a detailed valuation on a quarterly basis along with a commentary on the markets and their portfolio.
