FMG Fund Managers

FMG Fund Managers was founded in 1989 and has been selecting leading money (fund) managers for many years from their research centres in Stamford (USA), Norway, Sweden, Malta, China & the UK. They manage some USD ($) 350 million in a variety of specialised funds.

Over the years, FMG has specialised in being innovative in fund management and have created a variety of hedge funds aimed at the retail and institutional sector.

For example, they were one of the first fund management companies to launch a fund of hedge funds specialising in the Bio-Medical sector (covering: Bio-Tech, Medical Services/Devices and Pharmaceutical Companies by using 9 independent managers).

Then on the 1st of January 2002, they launched a Global Hedge Fund, which had originally been a “long only” fund, but FMG were proactive and in order to preserve the underlying capital, they created a Global Hedge Fund. For the first 8 months of 2002, the fund was up some 7% net after costs. By the end of 2010, the fund had a cumulative return of approximately 273%.

Then in turn FMG were one of the earlier fund managers to launch a Russian “long only” fund covering Russia and CIS countries only.

FMG are pioneers in the frontier markets and emerging markets industry, and have recently launched the first Iraq focused fund of funds. The main strategy of the fund will be “long only” and they expect Iraq to be the next big thing, with better stability, which will lead to prosperous growth and capital appreciation.

In 2010 FMG has also moved it’s “master-feeder” structure from Bermuda to Malta, and now offer funds domiciled in an EU jurisdiction with much better liquidity. The fact that the funds are now EU regulated gives that extra peace of mind to the investors, which is the way forward.

FMG expect the markets to start recuperating after the great financial crash, and strongly believe that emerging markets will provide returns that no developed markets can.
